My Gratitude Story
Can you believe it? Dolphin Reading is One Year Old!!!! Happy Anniversary Dolphin Reading!
We've done some incredible things in one year. Our biggest accomplishment by far though is that we have helped almost two hundred children boost their confidence and become better readers. Thank you for entrusting Dolphin Reading with your child/children's reading needs. I am grateful for that!
Speaking of being grateful, I'd like to share my personal gratitude story in hope that maybe somehow it can inspire you.
In October 2016, I became very ill. I went from being fully able-bodied to disabled overnight. It took doctors months to figure out what was wrong with me. When they finally did, I had to play the medication game until I found one that worked and one that my insurance company approved. After spending almost a full year experiencing the worst suffering of my life, I became very depressed, so much so that I thought about taking my own life at times. I was so sick of suffering. I was sick and tired of being sick and saw no end in sight. Finally, one day, I somehow figured out what I had to do: surrender and trust that there was a reason all of this was happening to me.
And that's exactly what I did.
I began to take charge of all the things I had control over. I changed my diet, started taking yoga classes, and began meditating. All of this did wonders. However, the most significant change I made in my life was finding gratitude. It wasn't easy at first because I really didn't think I had much to be grateful for. I was so sick. My body was failing.
The amazing thing is, despite all of the suffering, depression, and lack of will to live, I found something every day to be grateful for. A month later, I found a medication that worked, and I'm happy to say that I've been in remission for five years. I really believe changing my mindset made this happen.
I continue to practice my gratitude daily, and the effects have been profound. I am a different person because of gratitude. My life is different because of it. I have learned that the more grateful you are, the more you have to be grateful for.
Thank you for allowing me to tell my story. The power of the mind is beyond measure and reading is an essential way to tap into a child’s power. And, it just goes to show that ANYTHING is possible.
With Gratitude,
Diane
